What format should films be in?
• Preferred format is mini DV but there's
no problem with VHS
• Some form of computer file on a CD or DVD (or email if small)
How are films selected?
We are looking for web poetry using the full
multimedia capacity of the computer/internet. The films on the site
are quite varied but what we see them having in common is that they
are lyrical, emotional and essentially artistic. We have started a
new section recently where we are showing short narrative pieces which
may be serialised if they are more than 10 minutes. The same emphasis on
poetic imagery still applies.
How do I submit a film?
Contact us by email or our Contact page and we can discuss the best way
to send us a film.
Is there any payment for films?
Currently Little Song Films has no revenue and
is not in a position to pay for the use of any films. We are trying
to get funding and may in the future create products that may provide
some sort of revenue. Should we use an artist's film in one of these
products it would be only be with their full co-operation and we
would pay the artist a royalty/percentage of any profit.
Is there a contract?
At present all our transactions are done on
a basis of trust, which seems to work ok. Should we use an artist's
film in a product such as a DVD (see Is there any payment for films?),
we would then provide a contract. Anything shown on the internet
can potentially be kept by the downloader. At present all our films
are highly compressed versions of the originals and therefore this
should not be too much of a problem.
Is anything done to the films?
Unless the film has already been compressed
we will compress it so that it is small enough to be used on the
internet. This will invariably involve a degradation in quality.
We try to make sure that films look their best.
